Team Raw set for Bragging Rights PPV
Team Raw is now set in stone for the upcoming Bragging Rights PPV. In a season where WWE is suddenly doing way more PPV events, but promoting them less, making me ponder the desirability of Orlando vacations compared to reporting this stuff, the Bragging Rights PPV is a new franchise that sounds a bit like the upcoming Survivor Series.
Anyway, Team Raw is now officially: Shawn Michaels, Triple H, Big Show, Cody Rhodes, Jack Swagger, Kofi Kingston, and Mark Henry.
Chris Jericho is the team captain of Team Smackdown; the rest of the team will be revealed on tonight’s Smackdown broadcast.
WWE gives Batista the belt… for 24 hours
The WWE put the belt on Batista at the Extreme Rulz PPV last weekend knowing he would have to vacate the title the next day due to scheduled surgery. While RAW covered the reason for Batista’s absence with an angle injury the next night, it make champ Randy Orton look extremely weak.
Now, going into tonight’s RAW, the WWE Title is vacant with Orton, Cena, Triple-H and Big Show all having legitimate claims to being in the title picture. While it will be entertaining to watch how they resolve this, the sloppy booking of last week is still a disappointment.
Yet it’s not like Batista’s going to be leaving for on lovely Orlando vacations or anything; his surgery is scheduled to keep him on the shelf for several months – meaning he may not be back until Royal Rumble time next year. Maybe Survivor Series.
Christian Cage likely leaving TNA
With his contract expiring soon, Christian Cage is expected to leave TNA and return to the WWE in the coming months, according to online sources. While one might expect one or two Orlando vacations to break up the monotony between his last TNA match and his first match back to WWE, the leap is one that is certainly expected.
If he makes the leap, Christian would be only the second wrestler to leave WWE for TNA, only to return; thus far, Jeff Hardy is the only other superstar to do so. Christian would draw initial interest if he were sent to SmackDown to feud with former partner and SmackDown tentpole wrestler Edge. However, after that initial push, it will be interesting to see if Christian stays near the top of WWE’s project list, or falls by the wayside.
Of course, while Cage is hoping to return to WWE, there’s no official word on the company’s interest in bringing him back at this stage of his career. Time will tell.
